Sinterklaas rules?

Did you know that the Dutch Normalisation Institute (also known as NEN) has an overview of rules for our Sinterklaas?

You can find it here and it tells you things like (in different chapters):

“grof-juten” – omhulsel waarin geschenken worden aangeleverd
“roede” – wordt in incidentele gevallen door Zwarte Piet gebruikt voor tuchtiging van personen die niet het vereiste braafheidgehalte in acht hebben genomen.
“Het neerstorten van het paard”
“Het in ongerede raken van de baard”
“Rituele handelingen”
“Richtlijnen voor Stichtelijke bedreigingen”
“Spanje” – land waar Sint-Nicolaas nooit is geweest

And it’s all meant serious (update: I thought it was :p) — although it’s very difficult to take it serious. Typically Dutch, I guess.

Smallest demo toolkit?

What to think about “…seven completely different 3d scenes with 16 minutes of realtime synthesized music”?

Take a look at fr-08: .the .product.

Or what to think about a game written in 96 kilobytes (just like the old days)? Then take a look on The Produkkt site for kkrieger.

And on that site there’s also a tool called werkkzeug1, which can also be found on The Produkkt site. This tool allows you to create your own demo’s.

End of ‘old’ television

Television as we know it, will die. Shows brought on television nowadays don’t have a very stimulating effect on my brains. Most of the time the shows are always the same and they just copy their newsitems from eachother and things get discussed dozen times. But ok, television doesn’t interest me much at all, only Kopspijkers is something where I look forward to every week ;)

My ‘vision’ is that Internet will overtake television as medium. Because Internet is much more interactive and also because the society is tired of going one direction and being told things by television. People are discussing about whether the media has too much influence on everything and that the media blow up everything. Furthermore, this BBC newsitem tells that people are spending more time on the Internet.

For me Internet has more to offer than the television as we know it today. Broadcasting for the mass will totally disappear. You just click on a site when you want to see a show or some clip. I think Internet is good for more diversity, because you are not limited by your country-borders. Perhaps my thoughts are simplistic, but so be it.

Day 1, of how many?

Yes, this is my first log, finally. It’s a pity that the site still isn’t finished yet — my designing skills are minimal — and it’s difficult to be happy with your own design. But I’ll try to continously edit and update the site.

A news message:

Bewaarplicht voor ISP’s?

Read this and we’ll talk a next day about it.
