Just stumbled on an 8-bit remix of the song What is love by Haddaway, a song from the early nineties. The three guys you see in the car is from a scene in the movie Night at the Roxbury.

Music note

For quite a while there is musical software out there which helps you in generating music – no I am not talking about software like Reason or oldskool software like ScreamTracker or FastTracker. The software I am talking about works by displaying a matrix of blocks which you can press independently of each other. The whole matrix of blocks is usually being traversed horizontally from left to right by an imaginary reader. By pressing a block a tone is being generated when the reader passes the block. By combining multiple pressed blocks you can make spacy music.

I have seen several of these programs on the internet already and today I found another very simple and tiny online music generator, but this one has a nice 3D presentation. Go and try it yourself here.

Numbers and angles

You probably think that numbers and angles don’t have anything in common, but have you ever been thinking about the idea behind why numbers looks like … numbers? Today I heard from an Indian colleague that every number actually represent(ed) the amount of angles (or corners) it contains. I looked on the internet and there is indeed a theory behind numbers and angles, but it’s not easy to recognize it back in all numbers nowadays.

Cheap hallucination

It is well known that the brain can be tricked optically, by looking at strange patterns et cetera. I’ve seen quite some examples of that on the Internet already, but once in a while a real good one comes along. I found one where you have to look at for at least twenty seconds, longer is better. Just stare at the centre of the animation and then watch to objects around you. I haven’t seen such a good example yet where my brain really did some strange things to objects around me. Some bananas laying on the fruitdish grew and shrunk in size and a painting on the wall looked to be alive. I also read that you can really notice its happening in your brain, because if you close one eye and expose the other to the animation and then look around using your non-exposed eye, you will still notice the effect.

A very nice semi-interactive animation of cards can be seen on http://www.adobecards.com. Use the slider on the bottom of the screen to move forward/backward in the animation. Seems to be part of a promotion for their new Creative Suite 3.

Wonen in een eco-huis

Ik was op de BBC-site aan het kijken voor wat nieuws en toen kwam ik na een paar keer klikken uit op een serie foto’s over mensen die op een bepaalde manier wonen. Opvallend was de foto-serie over een man en een vrouw die in een eco-huis wonen. Een woning gebaseerd op alleen maar natuurlijke onderdelen. Zo kan het dus ook

Ik was vandaag even aan het zoeken naar filmpjes van dieren die zichzelf in de spiegel zien staan. Dit naar aanleiding van een artikel op nu.nl.

Toen kwam ik o.a. dit en dit filmpje tegen van een kat die zichzelf in de spiegel aanvalt. Toch raar dat het er op lijkt dat de kat geen besef heeft van zichzelf. Lijkt me raar om niet te weten dat je naar jezelf zit te kijken in de spiegel, maar goed, als je niet beter weet maakt dat ook niet uit.
