International Film Festival Rotterdam, that’s where I bought some tickets for today. Not for the whole festival but for a specific film ofcourse. The plan is to go watch the work of Nilsson & Simonsson. Their style is described as follows «The work of Nilsson and Simonsson is based on everyday reality, but thanks to the black humour and their masterfully firm style, they manage to give this rather boring reality a wayward turn of its own.»
This programme consists of several short movies. I hope it is at least interesting and/or original material to watch. BTW: if you buy some tickets and the girl wishes you a “Prettige voorstelling!” it’s unusual to reply with “Hetzelfde!”…
BTW2: Watch David Hasselhoff as a bonus.

| Like everyone knows, my world exists of LEDs. LEDs normally will never fail (quickly). Just keep that for god’s sake in mind. Don’t start making me angry and don’t try to be sarcastic about LEDs when I am nearby you. Look at the Fremont Street Experience to see how a 1500 feet pedestrian mall ceiling consists of 12.5 million LEDs.
Ok, there are many LED-variants. One of them is also OLED. Which stands for the organic variant. There did already exist transparent LED-like thingies — FOLEDS, TOLEDS –, but at Fraunhofer (Germany) they (also) developed a transparent LED. Nice stuff.
And what about this LED-cube? Multiply the amount of LEDs a few hundred times by transparent LEDs and you can build up some sort of holographical image. Theoretically. |

You might start thinking now that I like the average trance music when you look at the title. To be honest, I don’t like it as most people remember trance music. It originated in the Indian state of Goa, which is distinctive as most forms of trance music were developed in Europe. Several years ago a friend from school called Izard notified me of the existence of Total Eclipse. While replying in a topic last week on our forum the name came up again. And I started research to find some more similar artists. I found them and I’d really recommend you to take a try and to listen to e.g. Cosmosis, Transwave, Astral Projection and Oforia.
Are you curious? Listen to a sample from Oforia track Northern Lights. It isn’t that bad, is it? Ofcourse can you find more background information on Wikipedia here about goa-trance. |

Don’t be afraid of this guy at the left, it’s not a serial killer or so. Some people will recognize him or know his name. I didn’t know his name until now (I am ashamed). To quote Wikipedia:
«Jordan Rudess (born November 4, 1956) is a Juilliard-trained keyboardist most famously known as a member of the progressive metal band Dream Theater.»
I have listened the the album called Rhythm of Time and this is really a great diversity of music styles combined in multiple tracks. I really can’t describe exactly what it sounds like. Then you hear classical piano, the other moment you hear complicated drums and that can turn into xylophones. The first moment you are listening to jazz and a few moments later you hear metal. There are also a lot of intriguing guitar moments to hear. It partly reminds me of Frank Zappa who also mixed a lot of instruments and songs; the difference is there are no political (offensive) lyrics. You have to love the synths and the crazy/chaotic style, but it’s really nice to hear this stuff. |
